Dear Sailors, Friends, and Guests,
On behalf of all of us at Centro Velico Punta Ala, I extend to each of you my warmest welcome to the 2025 European Windsurfer Class Championships.
We are deeply honoured to host you here in Punta Ala, and I hope these days of competition and camaraderie brings you not only excellent racing, but also lasting memories of this unique corner of Tuscany.
As many of you are aware, the opening ceremony originally scheduled for last night was postponed due to severe weather conditions. The decision was made with the safety of all participants as our top priority, particularly considering the challenges of safely transferring to and from the venue, and conducting the event outdoors in unstable conditions.
At the time of writing, the weather has unfortunately not improved, and we are continuing to monitor the situation closely. We sincerely hope to be able to hold the ceremony this evening, should conditions allow. In the meantime, I thank you for your patience, your understanding, and above all, your enduring spirit—a quality that defines the Windsurfer Class and the broader sailing community.
While I cannot be with you in person at this moment, please know that I am following the event closely and am immensely proud of the work our team has done to prepare this championship. From logistics and race operations to hospitality and safety, a dedicated crew of professionals and volunteers has come together with a shared goal: to give you the best possible racing experience.
To our partners and local institutions, to the municipalities of Castiglione della Pescaia and Scarlino, and to all who have made this event possible—thank you
May the wind make for a challenging competition in the upcoming days.
Warm regards,
