A-Cat World Championships
September 7-14, 2024
Punta Ala (GR) Italy
The A-Class World Championship, which represents the pinnacle of competition in the world of catamarans, returns this year to the Punta Ala Sailing Center, a venue already the scene of the 2015 edition. This prestigious international sporting event will feature the world’s best sailors from one of the oldest and most active catamaran classes. From young talents under 25 to the most experienced Great Grand Masters over 56, participants will compete for the title in the two categories: the A Classic, representing the tradition and pure essence of sailing, and the Foils, modern flying catamarans that defy the laws of physics with their ability to “fly” on water. This division offers a fascinating juxtaposition of the classic and the innovative, making the Class A World Championship a unique event.

When can boats be brought to the event site?
Starting August 30, it is possible to bring boats and trolleys to the facility. We have arranged dedicated parking exclusively for trolleys, while boats will be placed on the beach. Those arriving before August 30 can contact the regatta office (Email: info@centrovelicopuntaala.it Tel: +39 349 881 6427 – +39 349 881 6392) for further informations.
For those participating in the italian national regatta the week before the event, is it possible to leave the boats rigged on the trailer until the World Championships?
Yes, it is possible. The boats can remain on the beach and will be securely anchored to the ground using pre-prepared sandbags.
Where will the boats and trailers be positioned on land?

How are the green, yellow, and white zones assigned for placing boats on the beach? Is it possible to choose a specific position?
There are no fixed or definitive assignments for the green, yellow, and white zones on the beach. Our local staff will recommend the best zone for placing your boat based on the racing area (alpha or bravo) assigned to your fleet.
Will the trailers be located close to the boats?
No, the trailers will be placed in the dedicated parking area (“Trailer Park” marked in blue on the logistical map).
