With 553 sailors from 29 countries, in the competition organized by Centro Velico Punta Ala at PuntAla Camp&Resort, there is a strong desire to get out on the water.
Day 1 was essentially a waiting game, with no action due to wind and wave conditions preventing boats from launching from the beach. However, participants made the most of the sunny weather, enjoying activities such as beach volleyball, mountain biking, and ping-pong, and even inventing new sports like foot-volley or volley-pong. Ma i partecipanti non hanno perso tempo: sotto il sole splendente hanno approfittato di tutte le attività offerte dal camping come beach-volley, mtb, ping-pong, oltre ad inventare nuove discipline sportive come foot-volley o volley-pong…

“I am happy to welcome all the athletes and coaches who have chosen Punta Ala to compete in this ILCA race. The response has been extraordinary, with over 550 participating teams. These young ambitious athletes share our passion for the sea and sailing, perfectly reflecting the philosophy of our resort. I am extremely pleased to see such high participation.” Thomas A. Daddi, Presidente del Centro Velico Punta Ala, greeted all competitors during the morning coach meeting.
This morning greeted us with the Maestrale wind. The plan includes three races per fleet, with the first warning signal at 11:00. Three ILCA 4 groups (two men and one woman) along with one ILCA 7 group will race on the Alpha course, while four ILCA 6 groups (three men and one woman) will compete in the Bravo area.
The eagerness to get out on the water is palpable, and we hope to kick off the scheduled races for this second day.
The Centro Velico Punta Ala wants to thank the Municipality of Scarlino, the Municipality of Castiglione della Pescaia, and the technical partners Devoti Sailing, Negrinautica, and Decathlon Grosseto for the collaboration and support in organizing the event. For logistic support, thanks are also extended to the collaboration of PuntAla Camp&Resort and the numerous local associations, including the Yachting Club Isole di Toscana, Club Velico Castiglione della Pescaia, Lega Navale di Follonica, Club Nautico di Follonica, and Yacht Club Punta Ala.
