We are less than a month away from the start of the Euro Sup Tour 2024, the largest stand up paddle tour with a unified ranking system, in its tenth year. This event attracts athletes from all over Europe to compete in flat water, seas, rivers and lakes, offering some of Europe’s most iconic landscapes as a backdrop.
The season this year kicks off in Italy, in Punta Ala, April 26-27, with the second edition of the Sparviero SUP Challenge in memory of Sara D’Apolito, marking the beginning of a European tour that promises to be more exciting than ever. The competition is open to everyone, from adults to children, from experts to beginners, with a very rich prize money of 4500euros, equally distributed between men and women.
The location of PuntAla Camp&Resort, co-organizer and logistics base of the event, is confirmed as the ideal setting for SUP, thanks to the calm, crystal-clear waters and the beauty of the beach, right in front of the Island of Elba, from which the race kicks off. The course promises great entertainment, with a long crossing to reach and circumnavigate the Sparrowhawk islet and return to the base, adding a touch of adventure to the competition.
The program includes the Opening Ceremony at the Beach Bar on Friday at 6 p.m., while on Saturday morning the various races divided by category will take place. On Sunday, sponsors will provide boards and paddles for the public to try out and play free of charge.
This event is of special importance to the Punta Ala Sailing Center as it is dedicated to the memory of Sara D’Apolito, an athlete and SUP instructor at our facility who tragically passed away in the summer of 2021.
